Lobster Fishing
Lobster Fishing
Hunt made many sketchbook studies of coastal and marine subjects, usually in sketchbooks and often in graphite. He commonly used a reed pen in his work, particularly early landscape and figure subjects, but a marine drawing with the reed pen like this one is very unusual in his work. Rather than it being a sketchbook study, it is most unlikely this drawing was made in front of the subject and it was no doubt drawn and signed to exhibit, present or sell.
